Now an Entertainment Editor for Pink and Black Magazine!

Hi y’all!

August is here! Hope everyone is enjoying this last month of summer!

I’m excited to announce that I have been chosen to be the fall 2012 Entertainment Editor of Pink and Black Magazine, an online magazine for young women! I’m stoked that I will be able to take on a prominent role (Pretty much the kind I aspire to) and be able to tackle on the topics I love for such a cool and interesting (And very aesthetically pleasing!) publication. I will be brainstorming ideas for the section every month, assign stories, work closely with staff writers and our amazing Editor-in-Chief, Anna, and pitch in my own weekly column. I can’t wait to finally see it all take off!

Please check out the website at pinkandblack-magazine.com, and follow our social networks on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Pinterest. The Editor’s Blog is a pretty fun read too, and to my understanding, Pink and Black is still looking for Staff Writers. So if you’re a female between the ages of 18-25 and are looking to get some writing experience, this is a great opportunity!

Life’s been pretty crazy. Always lots of writing to do, and more opportunities are still presenting themselves! We’ll talk again soon!

The Hudsucker

Hi Internet!
This is old news for most of you, but to make it all official on my website (Was waiting to announce it along with some other stuff, but one project is on hold for now and another one didn’t happen), I wanted to let you all know that I am now a contributor to a great new blogzine called The Hudsucker! The Hudsucker is the brainchild of Tania Hussain and a place for writers and readers to engage and connect on a variety of topics from technology and entertainment to sports and travel, and much more!

There have been some wonderful posts up there for a while now—film and video game reviews, how to use Yelp, what it means to have a soulmate, amongst plenty of other witty and engrossing articles. I posted my first article on online dating a month ago and will be contributing a couple more surprise articles in the next few weeks!

You can find selected writing samples in my portfolio. PLEASE check out, bookmark, and subscribe to The Hudsucker, Like us on Facebook, and follow us on Twitter, Tumblr, and Pinterest!

Thank you Tania and Elizabeth for helping me hop on board. 🙂

Cheers,
Karen

My new gig with Medium Rare!

Hey folks!
Hope you all are having a lovely June so far! I just wanted to let you all know that you will be seeing more of my film reviews elsewhere! I am now a contributing writer to Medium Rare, a website that highlights the achievements of women and people of color in the film, television, and video game industries. Obviously, this is another exciting opportunity for me to share my love for entertainment, as well as be part of a socially conscious website. Please check out the site at mediumraretv.org, and make sure to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter! Spread the word—it’s a great and meaningful source for entertainment reviews, commentary, and interviews.

Of course, I will still be posting reviews in Karen On, and will even link to my Medium Rare reviews on there. And I will still be writing for Audrey Magazine. In fact, I’ll be covering the New Filipino Cinema program at the Yerba Buena Center for Arts this weekend! You can check out my author page here. It’s been a fun time writing for them!

Look out for my first Medium Rare review very soon, and thanks for keeping up with me! 🙂 See ya on the other side!

PS What do you all think of the new site layout?
